Baby Revealing Party

I’m in my late 30’s and there will be no more babies for us, but ohhhhh how I love hosting baby showers!  One of the latest party trends is to host a “Baby Revealing” party.  It is a fun way to tell family and friends the sex of your baby.  Yeah…I wish I would have thought about this 8 years ago when I had my first girl.  My motto- “Party for no good reason” LOL

My friend Tricia is pregnant with her fourth child.  I convinced her to throw a little party to tell everyone what she was having.  My budget was $120 or so.  How can you keep a party at a low budget? Don’t invite everyone you know lol  Keep the party small.  Hopefully nobody gets hurt they didn’t get an invite.

First thing  I do, is get a baby shower collection with pretty signs, tags, invitation, etc.  My friends over at Anders Ruff have the most beautiful designs.  I wanted to stick with traditional blue and pink.

Creating a backdrop can be quite expensive.  However, you can also do something pretty and not spend a fortune.  I purchased scrapbook paper at Michaels and Hobby Lobby when it was on sale.  Sheets were 5 for $1 at Michael’s and 50% off at Hobby Lobby.  This backdrop costs about $5 if not less.

I love making my own party banners.  I’ve been making this onesies banner for a couple of years.  You can actually find it listed in my etsy shop.  It is made with scrapbook paper as well.  Glue some letters and add the glitter around each letter….it looks much cuter in person!

Crafting is my thing! Baking…..hmmm….NOT so much ha!!  I went to the store, bought a cake and added white frosting all over it.  The coconut was an after thought.  I bought those chocolate “it’s a boy/girl” coins at a local candy store. I get my sixlets from SweetWorks.

I thought it’d be fun to do powdered donettes instead of cupcakes!  I love how cute they look in the cupcake wrappers. The party circles are from Anders Ruff as well.

My white cupcake stands are from Cupcake Stand.

I bought yogurt and put in the plastic cups from the Dollar Tree.  The white platter is from Pier 1 Imports, but I’ve had if for  a couple of years.  I use it very often.

baby-rattlesI made these cute rattles with marshmallows.  They are dipped in candy melts and sprinkles.  Dressed them up with paper straw and tied  a little bow.  Cute huh?

I purchased the plastic baby bottles at a store in California, but I have seen them at Hobby Lobby and Party City.

I recycle the Starbucks frappuccino bottles to use for my parties.  You can add a fun label or scrapbook paper to jazz it up! I found the baby charms at Michaels.

This is how we revealed that Paul & Tricia were having a boy!  I added the blue sixlets inside the cake before frosting it….. clever huh?  🙂

This was super fun! I like how simple it is, but all the little details make a big difference.
